History

Over twenty years of experience providing unparalleled environmentally responsible waste management and environmental education throughout North America.

In the Beginning

Clean Vibes started in 1997 in response to the obvious need of organized waste removal for outdoor music festivals. Clean Vibes was formed by the collective inspiration of those at Clean Vibes and Great Northeast Productions, who felt a need to reduce the impact of these events by providing the means to recycle in addition to educating the attendees about recycling and keeping the festivals clean and safe.

For three years Clean Vibes worked under the protective wing of Great Northeast Productions performing our services for all outdoor multi-day PHISH festivals. In 2000, we became a partnership and branched out to offer our services to other smaller festivals. The next year we incorporated and streamlined our business to provide more professional service to our growing client base.

In 2002, Clean Vibes became involved in the first annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Through our annual involvement in this event, Clean Vibes has helped Bonnaroo become recognized as a leader in greening large outdoor festivals.

Our collective greening efforts were recognized in 2007 when Bonnaroo received the “Greener Festival Award” from A Greener Festival and in 2008 when Bonnaroo received Greener Festival’s OUTSTANDING Greener Festival Award. Bonnaroo continues to be recognized for their sustainability initiatives by receiving a Greener Festival Award every year.

Clean Vibes’ employees, an integral part of our successful team, vigorously uphold our mission statement for every assignment. The entire staff of Clean Vibes share our vision of distinctive quality of service and attention to detail, with a strong commitment torecycling and minimizing the environmental impact of festivals, (as well as a love for music!)

Our customers have responded tremendously to the quality of our services and their support of our efforts has enabled Clean Vibes to extend our operation throughout the United States and Canada.  In 2014, we opened the west coast branch of Clean Vibes in order to provide our services to events on the west coast in a more cost effective manner.  We have been the exclusive greening vendor for the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco since 2018. We have also diversified the types of events that we offer our services to, including working Wanderlust yoga events, various races and marathons, High Times’ Cannabis Cups, the FIA Formula E New York E-Prix, and the Off the Grid food vendor markets throughout San Francisco.

2019 marked the twentieth year of business for Clean Vibes. In 2019, we worked 106 events and 81 Off the Grid markets, diverting over 2,700,000 pounds of waste. Over the past twenty years, Clean Vibes has diverted over 21,000,000 pounds of waste through our recycling and compost initiatives.

Our goal at Clean Vibes is simple – providing extraordinary service as we meet our customer's needs in the event world. We accomplish this by working as a team to not only provide recycling and waste collection services, but also to educate and inspire the attendees by acting as role models for stewardship and community values.

Clean Vibes is currently based out of Marion, North Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
